One Less Cook In The Mix At Oddfellows

Sep 27, 2010 1 Comment by

The saying about too many cooks spoiling the broth seems to be playing a role in the development of the menu at Oddfellows, the new breakfast and lunch eatery set to open in the old Vitto’s space in the Bishop Arts District.

You may recall that Oddfellows is a group of 13 partners/investors/ neighbors who have come together with Matt Spillers from Eno’s to develop a new restaurant concept. Aliza Shier, the former pastry chef from Local, had been named the head chef for the project but that changed last week when she resigned.

Sources close to the restaurant site differences over “creative direction” in the development of the final menu as Shier’s reason for pulling out of the restaurant prior to opening. Spillers, who is a trained chef from the Culinary Institute of America, is now taking on the responsibility to create the menu. No word yet as to whether another chef will be hired to fill the void in the kitchen on a day-to-day basis.
