Smoke’s Chef Up For Food & Wine Best Chef

Feb 15, 2011 No Comments by

Food & Wine magazine has named the 10 best new chefs in the country every year since 1998, but this year they’ve added a twist. Nominating 100 chefs from 10 regions in the country, the magazine is asking readers, foodies and fans to cast their vote for ‘The People’s Best New Chef‘.

Turns out Oak Cliff has another opportunity to shine here, as Chef Tim Byres from Smoke Restaurant has been nominated in the Southwest division. Food & Wine has partnered with CNN’s Eatocracy and the voting is being held here.

Here’s what Food & Wine has to say: “In each of the ten designated regions of the country, you – yes, YOU – may vote for the chef whose restaurant has most significantly stirred your soul and your palate. The winner of the The People’s Best New Chef 2011 will be the subject of a profile in the July issue of Food & Wine and will no doubt hold you in tremendous gratitude and esteem until the end of time.”

Also nominated in the Southwest area is Ft. Worth’s Casey Thompson of Brownstone as well as Austinites Andrew Curren (24 Diner), Bryce Gilmore (Odd Duck Farm to Trailer), James Holmes (Olivia), and Jesse Griffiths (Dai Due Supper Club).
