So Much Going On This Saturday!

It’s a full day of fun in the Cliff, so we thought we’d give you an itinerary and we hope to see you make the full rounds today.

Start your day at the Bishop Arts Saturday Market, which happens the first Saturday of the month in Bishop Arts. We’ve heard they’ve got 20 merchants signed up for today with fresh produce, gifts and other tasty treats. Head on over and pick up a little breakfast crepe and maybe a last minute Mother’s Day gift! You can find the Bishop Arts Saturday Market under the trees in the parking lot next to Decanter on 8th Street between 9am and 1pm today.

If you want to get a little exercise before you get started, you could head over to Lake Cliff Park to catch Oak Cliff Hooplah at 10am near the tennis courts on Blaylock Dr. They’ll bring adult size hula-hoops-come and it’s free for you to give it a spin.

And at 11am you should walk down Bishop to Jefferson to catch the 15th Annual Cinco de Mayo parade, sponsored by the Oak Cliff Coalition for the Arts. The parade starts at 11 a.m. and the route starts at 200 E. Jefferson Blvd. and ends at Casa Guanajuato, 1002 W. Brooklyn.

The North Oak Cliff Public Library, located at 302 West 10th Street, in celebration of Cinco de Mayo will have the Peeler Elementary School ballet folklorico dance class performing several folk dances of Mexico. The action starts at noon and a pinata will follow the dancing.

Once you’ve had your fill of the parade you can head over to Bolsa for their annual Kentucky Derby Bash. The $5 mint juleps start flowing at 3pm and the horses race at 5pm. There are prizes for best dressed, raffles for some Maker’s Mark gift packs, and they are giving away 3 House of MacGregor custom hat gift certificates. Not too shabby!

Finally, finish the day back in Bishop Arts, where Lockhart Smokehouse and Decanter are joining forces to bring you the first annual Bishop Arts Gringo de Mayo celebration in the Lockhart parking lot at the corner of 7th and Bishop. The party starts at 5pm and runs until midnight, featuring great deals on drinks ($4 ritas, $3 Texas wine, $3 Texas beer) and some tasty brisket tacos for just 2 bucks.  They’ve also got Michoacana Ice Cream company involved featuring delicious hand made ice cream. There will be live music all night and the event is dog, bike and family friendly!

Make the rounds today and enjoy the beautiful weather and all the action going on in the Cliff today!
