Blues, Bandits & BBQ – Bigger And Better!
The 2nd Annual Blues, Bandits and BBQ event will take place Saturday, October 22nd, 2011 and will be held at Lake Cliff Park. There’s lots of fun planned for this year, and lots of great changes and additions that will make this even more fun than last year!
Here’s what you need to know:
This will be the first Go Oak Cliff event where we have an admission fee. The cost to attend Blues, Bandits & BBQ is $10 per person (or 2 for 1 if you both come on bicycles), and kids under 12 are free. The reason for the charge is to help cover the cost of putting on an event in the park. The City of Dallas requires us to fence the area and provide additional permits and security. Hopefully this all translates to an even better party for you, but this also means significant costs to Go Oak Cliff. Advance tickets are $10 and are available now at PreKindle. Tickets will be available the day of the event and will be $15.
The BBQ Teams have already started planning and practicing, and they will arrive Friday night to begin cooking. If you would like to be one of the lucky ‘People’s Choice’ participants and try the BBQ from the teams competing, then you will need to buy a BBQ tasting pass for the event. The pass is $15 and will give you the opportunity to try BBQ from all the teams and vote for your favorite. A limited number of these passes will be sold and tickets are on sale now at PreKindle.
Teams will be competing in the following categories: brisket, whole chicken, sausage, ribs, and pulled pork! And a big change from last year – the teams are bringing their own meat… the sustainable meat challenge was a fun part of last years event, but this year we’re opting to let each team source their own meat that they feel will give them the best finished product for you to enjoy!
Blues, Bandits & BBQ will feature over 6 hours of live music this year! The live music will start at noon on Saturday and will run until 6pm. The lineup includes six amazing performers: Tallon Latz, Kirby Kelly, Hunter Hendrickson, Andrew Tinker, Lance Lopez, and the always amazing Bobby Patterson. We will be writing more about each performer in the coming days to give you a better taste of what to expect – but be prepared to be impressed!
There will be plenty of beer and other cold drinks for sale, and we will also have Lockhart Smokehouse, Spiral Diner and several other food vendors on site ready in case you get hungry!
Plan to bring a blanket or lawn chairs and spend the day – the weather should be beautiful and it will be a party to remember in Oak Cliff!

What time is the event?
The live music starts at 12pm on Saturday and will continue until 6pm or so. The BBQ teams will actually start cooking Friday evening and will be in the park all night long. Feel free to stop down Friday evening or Saturday morning to check them out!
