Brew Riot in Bishop Arts This Sunday!
The 2012 Brew Riot takes place this Sunday, May 20th in the Bishop Arts District. This year’s event has attracted 50 home brew teams to the competition, and they are bringing over 150 types of beer to sample and enjoy. There will be lagers, IPAs, Belgian & French ales, and specialty brews. Pre-sale tickets are available now through PreKindle and are already selling quickly! A select number of tickets will be held for purchase the day of the event, but those will sell out very quickly. We highly recommend purchasing your tickets in advance.
In addition to some great live music and seemingly endless supplies of beer, this year’s event will kick off with our 1st Annual 1.1 Mile Beer Run. The race starts at 3:30pm at Nova Restaurant (1417 West Davis, Dallas TX) and the course proceeds down 7th Street with stops at The Kessler Theater and Bolsa before an exciting finish in the Bishop Arts District. At each stop runners will drink an 8 ounce beer before running to the next stop. The added bonus of participating in the 1.1 Mile Beer Run is that the runners will not have to wait in line in Bishop Arts for the ID check – runners get first tastes once Brew Riot begins!
The cost to sample the beers at Brew Riot is $20, and the cost to participate in the 1.1 Mile Beer Run (which includes your admission to Brew Riot) is $35. Beer Mile finishers also receive a 1.1 sticker so you can brag about your athletic accomplishment to your friends and family. There is no on-site registration for the Beer Run – you must register in advance and have paid your fee. No exceptions!

[...] Brew Riot is an annual celebration of local home brew culture, and this year’s event (in Bishop Arts this Sunday from 4pm-7pm) features 51 home brewing teams with over 150 different types of beer. Each of the teams is required to bring 5 gallons of each entry, and they will be judged by local professional brewers including Frtiz Rahr from Rahr and Sons Brewing Company, Dennis Wehrmann from Franconia Brewing Company, Wim Bens from Lakewood Brewing Company, Tait Lifto from Deep Ellum Brewing Company, and Greg Leftwich from Four Corners Brewing Company. Of course there’s also a People’s Choice – for $20 you can sample all 150 beers (or as many as you decide is a good idea since we presume you have to work on Monday morning). [...]
I so wish I could be there I have been training my entire life for this event. I would crush all competitors.
