New Tenant For Cafe Madrid Space

Chef Tony Gardizi, formerly of Vue and currently with Capriccio, plans to open a new restaurant in the old Bishop Arts Cafe Madrid location. Go Oak Cliff understands that the lease will be finalized on Monday and they hope to open in early October.

The restaurant will  be called Decanter and is described as a “restaurant and wine lounge”. The food is said to be “New American –California Cuisine”, but it sounds like the wine may be the real attraction. Decanter plans to offer 30 wines by the glass and 100 wines by the bottle and hopes to have live music on the weekends.

You may recall that Gardizi was one of the 48 Nights chefs a few months ago.

We were at Capriccio’s on Saturday. We told the waiter it was our anniversary and he said the chef would like to prepare a 3 course dinner for us. All we had to do was trust him. We said what the heck and Tony Gardizi prepared the entire meal for us “off menu”. We had never heard of this place or Tony before we went there. We were just looking for some Italian. Needless to say, the evening was enchanting. We met him after dinner and told us he was opening a new place in BA. We told him we just lived a few blocks away and would be there when he opened. Tony and his new restaurant are going to be a great asset for Bishop Arts.
