The Details

  • Bastille Day is the perfect occasion to don your best beret and join your friends for a little wine and dancing in the streets!

Bastille Day is the French National Holiday that celebrates the storming of the Bastilleβ€”a military fortress and prisonβ€”on July 14, 1789, in an uprising that helped usher in the French Revolution.

Roaming this Oak Cliff festival is free. Your only expense is what you eat, drink, or buy when shopping in Bishop Arts, or in the pop-up markets. If you haven't visited the shops in Bishop Arts, please take a spin to see them. To consume alcoholic beverages at the festival, you must have one of our event wine glasses.

Ticket packages come with a wine glass and tokens, which can be redeemed for beverages. Cocktails, beer, and wine require 1 token.

  • READY TO PARTICIPATE AS A VENDOR?

We’re looking for interested vendors to line the streets and help us make Bishop Arts felt a little like the Champs-Γ‰lysΓ©es for the night. Apply to be a part of the festivities today.

  • WHAT ARE THE HOURS OF THE FESTIVAL?

The festival starts at 5 p.m. and ends at 10 p.m.

    WHERE IS THE FESTIVAL?

The festival is located in the heart of the Bishop Arts District, extending past Bishop & 7th St. all the way to Bishop & 9th St.

IS THERE A COST TO ATTEND BASTILLE ON BISHOP?

The festival is free, thanks to our sponsors! Your only expense is what you eat, drink, or buy when shopping in the market! To consume alcoholic beverages at the festival, you must be of-age and have one of our event wine glasses. The most basic ticket package comes with a wine glass and two tokens, which can be redeemed for beverages. Beer and wine require 1 token.

WHY SHOULD I BUY MY TICKET FOR MY WINE GLASS IN ADVANCE?

We only order a set number of wine glasses, and when they're gone, they're gone! They’ve sold out consistently, each year. Attendees without a wine glass can purchase beverages in our neighborhood restaurants and bars, but they cannot bring those beverages outside to the street festival. We order a set number of glasses so we can better anticipate how much alcohol to order.

CAN CHILDREN AND PETS ATTEND BASTILLE ON BISHOP?

Yes! Bastille on Bishop is kid-friendly and pet-friendly.

WE PLANNED TO EAT/SHOP IN THE BISHOP ARTS DISTRICT THAT NIGHT. WILL WE HAVE TO PAY TO GET THROUGH THE GATE TO GET THERE?

The festival is free, so no ticket is required to access our many great restaurants and shops. Many of the restaurants take reservations for dinner during the festival, as well!

    WHERE DO I PARK?

We recommend using our city's new modern streetcar to access the festival! The streetcar is free, and runs every 20 minutes from Union Station. A comprehensive schedule and map from DART is available online here. Alternatively, a shared ride service is recommended, as our neighborhood infrastructure is small and quaint. Parking is available in the lot at the southeast corner of 9th St. and Bishop Ave. If you do drive, please be courteous of our neighbors when parking. Do not block driveways, and be mindful of "No Parking" signs, as your car could be towed!

    WHAT ABOUT WEATHER?

It's July in Texas, so be prepared to sweat a bit. If you are sensitive to the heat, we suggest coming after 8 p.m. Bastille on Bishop is a rain or shine event.

Why Oak Cliff Celebrates Bastille Day

For more than a decade now, Oak Cliff has come together each July to celebrate Bastille Day, or the French National Day (FΓͺte nationale). It’s an opportunity, as we like to say, to don your beret and enjoy a summer night strolling through the streets of Bishop Arts with a wine glass in hand.
